Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Sholom, Inc. is currently looking for a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our New York City team. As a COTA in NYC, you can work under the direction of a Licensed Occupational Therapist in your borough of choice as we have positions available in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. E. Sholom, Inc is searching for fellow dynamic and devoted providers of Occupational Therapy (OT) who are passionate about providing outstanding care and support to Early Intervention children and their families. The most successful pediatric Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) have excellent verbal and written skills and a positive attitude about providing high quality services to children in need within our Early Intervention (birth to 3 years old) program.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of a Licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA in this position will:

  • Provide occupational therapy services to children aged birth to 3 years in their most natural environment.
  • Work in diverse settings such as client homes, family day care homes, day care centers, or other community settings.
  • Educate family members and caregivers on different intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over.
  • Follow Individualized Service Plan, plan ongoing treatment, and interpret goals and treatment plan for parents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA and State & Federal regulations) and submit records to agency within established deadlines.

COTA REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a passion for working with children, families, and therapists.

  • Must hold a current NYS license to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Must be self-motivated, a team player, and exercise patience/professionalism.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases including but not limited to driving personal vehicle, walking, and/or use of public transportation such as a bus or train.
  • The ability to climb and descend staircases.
  • The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to sit on the floor, kneel, and/ or crawl for extended periods.

Compensation depends on experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
